Senator Atkins Issues Statement on U.S. House Vote to Repeal and Replace Affordable Care Act

May 4, 2017

Senator Toni Atkins (D-San Diego) issued the following statement regarding today’s vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act:

“Republicans in the House have passed a measure that would have devastating impacts on Californians as well as Americans across the country. This bill, which is opposed by all credible medical organizations, will result in massive, widespread denial of healthcare. By defunding Planned Parenthood and allowing states to deny care for pregnancy, sexual assault and domestic violence, it’s also an all-out war on women. I hope and pray that the U.S. Senate will reject this cruel, villainous attack on the American people. With every fiber of my being, I will continue to fight to protect and expand access to healthcare in California.”
