Senate Leader Atkins Encourages Community Based Non-Profit Organization and Local Health Departments to Attend GO-Biz Workshop

September 28, 2018

SACRAMENTO – Senate President pro Tem Toni Atkins (D-San Diego) announced that the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) has organized a series of workshops throughout the state to solicit input on the new California Community Reinvestment Grants program.

“Community input into the development of the program is critically important to its future success,” Leader Atkins said. “We want to make sure that the Community Reinvestment Grants program is set up properly to support communities disproportionately affected by past federal and state drug policies. I encourage community based non-profit organizations and health departments to attend the workshop and contribute their valuable input.”

GO-Biz will discuss the parameters of the program and solicit input and feedback from workshop attendees with respect to the development and implementation of the program.

The California Community Reinvestment Grants Program will support the following activities:

  •          Job placement
  •          Mental health treatment
  •          Substance use disorder treatment
  •          System navigation services
  •          Legal services to address barriers to reentry
  •          Linkages to medical care

San Diego’s workshop is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at San Diego City College (located at 1081 16th Street – Career Technology Center Building V101. San Diego, CA 92101).
