STATEMENT: Senate Leader Atkins Condemns Attacks in Hillcrest

SACRAMENTO – California Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) issued the following statement in response to recent attacks in Hillcrest, a neighborhood in San Diego.

“I am heartbroken by the news that our beloved Hillcrest community was violently attacked last night. I thank San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit and his courageous officers for their prompt response to the shooting, which likely saved lives. This is the second attack on our San Diego LGBTQ community this week. We must stand strong and repudiate these homophobic and hateful attacks.”
