STATEMENT: Senate Leader Atkins Reacts to Sacramento District Attorney’s Decision on the Stephon Clark Investigation

SACRAMENTO – California Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) issued the following statement in response to today’s announcement by Sacramento District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert on the Stephon Clark investigation.

“My heart goes out to Stephon Clark’s family for their tremendous loss. We owe it to them and others to deliver on a use-of-force model for California and the nation going forward.

“I remain committed more than ever before to working on California’s law enforcement use-of-force standard. Our goal must continue to be to reduce preventable deaths and restore the public’s trust in our law enforcement agencies.”
