PRESS RELEASE - Senate Leader Atkins Announces Committee Changes for the 2019-2020 Legislative Session

SACRAMENTO – California Senate President pro Tempore, Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego), today announced changes to the Senate’s committee membership assignments for the 2019-2020 Legislative session.

The following committee appointments will be effective once the Senate Rules Committee adopts them. The Senate Rules Committee will meet on Monday, June 17, 2019. 

Standing Committees

Agriculture

  • Appoint Senator Brian Dahle (R-Bieber) to fill the vacancy.

Appropriations

  • Appoint Senator Maria Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) to fill the vacancy. 

Banking and Financial Institutions

  • Appoint Senator Brian Dahle (R-Beiber) to replace Senator Mike Morrell (D-Inland Empire) who will no longer serve on the committee. 

Environmental Quality

  • Appoint Senator Brian Dahle (R-Bieber) to replace Senator Jeff Stone, Pharm.D., (R-Temecula) who will no longer serve on the committee.  

Health

  • Appoint Senator Lena A. Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) to replace Senator Maria Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) who will no longer serve on the committee.  

Judiciary

  • Appoint Senator Maria Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) to replace Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas) who will no longer serve on the committee. 
  • Appoint Senator Lena A. Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) to replace Senator Ben Allen (D-Santa Monica) who will no longer serve on the committee. 

Transportation

  • Appoint Senator Brian Dahle (D-Bieber) to fill the vacancy. 

Joint Committees

Joint Legislative Audit

  • Appoint Lena A. Gonzalez (D-Long Beach) to replace Senator Maria Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) who will no longer serve on the committee. 

 

The following committee appointments will become effective after July 1, 2019 and once the Senate Rules Committee meets to adopt them.

Budget and Fiscal Review

  • Appoint Senator Brian Dahle (R-Bieber) to replace Senator Mike Morrell (R-Inland Empire) who will no longer serve on the committee.
  • Appoint Senator Anna M. Caballero (D-Salinas) to replace Senator Maria Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) who will no longer serve on the committee. 

Budget Sub-Committees

Budget Subcommittee #1 on Education

  • Appoint Senator Brian Dahle (R-Bieber) to replace Senator Mike Morrell (R-Inland Empire) who will no longer serve on the committee. 

Budget Subcommittee #4 on State Administration and General Government

  • Appoint Senator Anna M. Caballero as Chair to replace Senator Maria Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) who will no longer serve on the committee.
