Senate Leader Atkins Reacts to UC Regents Reducing Tuition for the 2018-2019 School Year

July 19, 2018

SACRAMENTO – California Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins (D-San Diego) issued the following statement in reaction to the Regents of the University of California’s decision to reduce tuition for the 2018-2019 school year.

“California’s future success depends on affordable access to our world-class universities and colleges. The University of California’s leadership clearly understands this. In reducing tuition for the upcoming school year, the UC’s administration and Regents have done right by our students and their families. This is precisely the outcome that my colleagues and I in the Senate sought when we fought successfully for increased funding for the UC in the 2018-19 state budget. I thank UC leaders for this pro-student, pro-family, pro-California decision.”
