Senate Leader Atkins Reacts to PG&E Bankruptcy Filing

January 29, 2019

SACRAMENTO – California Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) issued the following statement regarding Pacific Gas & Electric Bankruptcy filing:

“Today’s bankruptcy filing by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) is disappointing. Bankruptcy is not the optimum solution for Californians, the company itself and the workers who rely on their salaries to provide for their families.

“I am committed to working with my colleagues in the Senate and all stakeholders to ensure the continued and uninterrupted provision of safe, reliable electricity for our residents and businesses.

“My priorities are clear: protecting ratepayers, fire victims, and the reliability of electric and gas service to California's consumers. In addition, we will be vigilant in limiting any negative impacts of PG&E's bankruptcy on California’s clean air and climate goals.”
