Shana Hazan Reappointed to the California Children and Families Commission

SACRAMENTO – Today, the Senate Rules Committee, chaired by Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego), reappointed Shana Hazan to the California Children and Families Commission, also known as First 5 California.

“Shana Hazan has served with distinction on the California Children and Families Commission and has earned the confidence of her colleagues and risen to the role of vice chair. I am pleased that Shana will continue to lend her programmatic, public policy, and strategic partnership expertise to the Commission as it navigates post-pandemic challenges to children and families,” Pro Tem Atkins said.

Shana Hazan is the President of Hazan Strategies. She also serves as Vice Chair of First 5 California, Vice President of the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education, Vice President of Franklin Elementary School Foundation Board of Directors, and on the Board of Directors for Impact Cubed. Previously, she served as the Chief Philanthropy Officer for Jewish Family Service of San Diego and as Chair of the San Diego Human Relations Commission. Ms. Hazan has been the Senate Rules Committee appointee to the California Children and Families Commission since 2019. Prior to that, she served as the Speaker’s appointee to the Commission from 2016 to 2018.

Shana Hazan lives in San Diego and the term is four years. Compensation is per diem and reimbursement for travel expenses.
