SACRAMENTO –Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins today recognized San Diego resident Veronica Zerrer as Veteran of the Year in the 39^th District for 2018.

Retired U.S. Army Major Zerrer was active in the U.S. Navy from 1976 to 1980, serving as a cryptologic technician, and then in the Army from 1980 to 1998, as a cavalry scout, platoon leader, company commander and staff officer while assigned to the 1^st Infantry and the 35^th Infantry Divisions.

SACRAMENTO – The fiscal year 2018-19 state budget approved by the Senate this week makes major investments in housing and homelessness throughout California, building on the momentum generated in 2017 with the passage of a landmark package of 15 housing bills.

SACRAMENTO – The California Senate today passed a state budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year that begins on July 1, 2018.

“We have recovered from the dark days of the recession, and now the state’s fiscal outlook is the strongest it’s been in a generation,” said Senate Leader Toni Atkins (D-San Diego).
