Senator Akilah Weber Pierson Reacts to Trump Administration Cutting Mental Health Funding in Schools

SAN DIEGO - Senator Akilah Weber Pierson (D-San Diego) released the following statement in response to the federal government announcing it plans to strip mental health funding from Lemon Grove and La Mesa-Spring Valley School Districts.

"The Trump administration is cutting short a vital mental health grant, stripping nearly $6M from La Mesa–Spring Valley and Lemon Grove schools. This funding helps expand access to counseling and support services, especially for students facing trauma, poverty, and mental health challenges. Our kids’ well-being should never be up for debate."
