California Legislative Black Caucus Demands Answers on Brutal Classroom Assault

Sacramento, CA—The brutal assault of a young Black student in her middle school classroom in Colton, CA is sickening. Physical violence against any student, on any campus, is unacceptable and demands immediate action. 

Our schools should be safe havens for students to learn and express themselves. This incident clearly shows an unforgivable failure by school leadership to protect this child.

The California Legislative Black Caucus demands a full investigation into what transpired and swift accountability for those responsible, particularly the adults with whom their care is entrusted.

All students, especially our young Black girls, deserve to be safe, valued, and protected while they are on our school campuses.
