On May 15, from 12:00 to 4:00pm, the Coastal Canyon Fire Safe Council will host a fire safety event in the back parking lot of the Church of Latter Day Saints, located at 4741 Abernathy Road. This drive-through event will provide an opportunity for residents to learn how to create fire defensible space around their homes.

As San Diegans continue to unite to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year, Dining Out for Life® San Diego will focus on providing extra support for its participating restaurants while also raising vital funds for HIV services and prevention efforts at The LGBT Center.

Dining Out for Life® San Diego will take place over four consecutive days from Thursday, April 29 through Sunday, May 2. Lengthening the event will help DOFL participating locations, at a reduced capacity due to safety protocols, to maximize opportunities for community participation.

The 10th annual Spring Showcase will be virtual this year. This is a presentation of films from Asia and beyond and is one of many year-round programs of the non-profit media arts organization Pacific Arts Movement (Pac Arts). The event runs from April 23 through May 2.

Celebrate Earth Day 2021 with a drawing contest. The City of San Diego is asking children between the ages of four and 13 to show us what a sustainable San Diego looks like to them.

Pick up the activity book, “Our Climate, Our Future”, at neighborhood libraries and illustrate your ideas on page five. You can also print out page five at home and start drawing right away. Use your imagination and create your sustainable future using crayons, colored pencils, markers, or any other medium! City of San Diego staff will judge the entries and two winning artists will receive an environmentally friendly prize package courtesy of Think Blue.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) are seeking public input to assist in the development of the transportation solutions for the North County Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plan.

San Diego Opera is seeking participants for OPERA HACK 2.0: a (4) four-week online hackathon for music, theater, and technology experts to virtually gather, brainstorm, and discover new methods for theatrical production and performance. Participants will have the opportunity to network with creators from different cities internationally to create multidisciplinary teams and bring forward innovative ideas that can advance the production and presentation of opera. 

Applicants from members of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) communities, womxn, persons with disabilities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and others who can contribute to the further diversification of ideas in music theater, are strongly encouraged to apply.
