Senator Steve Padilla Appointed to the California Film Commission

SACRAMENTO – The Senate Rules Committee, chaired by Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego), appointed Senator Steve Padilla (D-San Diego) to the California Film Commission on Wednesday, January 11.

“The film and television industry is not only an integral part of California’s legacy, but also employs tens of thousands of Californians and serves as an economic force throughout the state,” Pro Tem Atkins said. “Senator Padilla’s unwavering commitment to working Californians and the Arts will serve him well in this new role.”

Senator Steve Padilla currently represents parts of San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. Prior to his being elected to the Senate in 2022, Senator Padilla served on the City Council and as Mayor of Chula Vista. He also has served as Chairman of the California Coastal Commission, and has worked as a detective for the Chula Vista Police Department.

Senator Padilla lives in Chula Vista and the term is four years. Compensation is reimbursement for travel expenses.
